THE PARTICIPANTS
At the heart of The Fade Project are four deeply personal stories that reveal the many faces of Black men's mental health. Each participant comes from a different background and life experience, yet all share a common journey toward understanding, healing, and hope.
One story follows a man rebuilding his life after years of addiction and depression, discovering that recovery begins with vulnerability and the courage to ask for help. Another explores the weight of grief, loss, and responsibility as a father and community leader learns to navigate healing through therapy and emotional resilience.
The film also follows a respected barber whose life was forever changed by a traumatic accident, revealing how the barbershop can become more than a place for haircuts—it can serve as a trusted space where honest conversations and healing take root. The final story honors a life lost to suicide through the perspective of a loved one, reminding audiences of the importance of recognizing warning signs, checking in with one another, and breaking the silence surrounding mental health.
Together, these four journeys form the emotional foundation of The Fade Project, demonstrating that healing is not a destination but an ongoing process—and that no one should have to face it alone.
