The Fade Project Talks will take place in popular barbershops throughout the U.S., featuring an inclusive panel of 6-8 black men with different religious/education backgrounds, sexuality/gender identities, and lifestyles, but all are in therapy and/or mental health advocates and influencers from various backgrounds. Each barbershop talk session will be divided into engaging episodes, covering a range of topics including socioeconomic issues, black masculinity, medical mistrust, and white supremacy.
We have created The Fade Project Talks to leverage the cultural significance of barbershops and how they should serve as safe spaces for black men to spark open conversations about mental health.
Research has shown that black men are more likely to discuss their health concerns with their barbers than with doctors, leading to the use of barbershops as platforms for health awareness and follow-up programs targeted at black men's health.
